Congress committed to protect special status of JK: JKPCC chief | KNO

Srinagar April 06 (KNO) : Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President, Ghulam Ahmad Mir who is also party candidate from Anantnag Lok Sabha segment on Saturday appealed the people to vote for Congress to ensure overall development and protection of special status of Jammu and Kashmir State. Addressing series of election rallies in YK Pora and Dooru in South Kashmir, he said the victory of Congress party in the upcoming elections amounts to safeguarding the secular fabric and unity in the Country and State. According to a statement issue to KNO, Mir told the gathering that the upcoming parliamentary elections was the best opportunity for the people to strengthen the secular forces both in the Country and State and sought votes for Congress Party to ensure overall development of the State, besides ensuring that communal and fascist forces are defeated miserably. He also said that Congress Party feels duty bound to protect special status of the State and won’t allow anyone to even touch it. Mir cautioned the people about the designs of BJP RSS and their sponsored people, who are in the fray aiming divide people in the upcoming elections. Pointing towards the gathering, Mir said. “I appeal you (people) to rise to the occasion to defeat the PDP in upcoming elections, for the fact, it was the PDP which is responsible for the damages caused to people in valley especially in south Kashmir.” He said PDP was fully responsible for the agony, anguish and fear among the people and urged the people to give a befitting reply to this party (PDP) for failing people on all counts. Mir reminded the people about the slogans of PDP during 2014 elections which sought votes against BJP, but what happened after the elections, the same PDP aligned with the BJP for the sake of power providing an opportunity to RSS to make inroads in valley. How can you forget the betrayal and backstabbing on he part of PDP, Mir asked the people. He assured the people that Congress party will continue to safeguard the special status of the State, Mir added and emphasized the people to give a befitting reply to PDP for misleading them on sensitive issues and playing with their emotions for the votes. Those who addressed the rallies included Ex. MLA Mohd Amin Bhat, Hilal Ahmad Shah, Farooq Ahmad Bhat, Block Presidents, PCC Members, Youth District President, PYC office bearers and other senior party leaders.(KNO)
